Big Thicket Hogs & Strings Cook-off and Music Fest at Big Thicket- Kountze, Texas
The purpose of the event is to bring members of the community together on several levels. This is an event that centers on fellowship through music and food, but the greater purpose is to raise funds for an incredibly important program that provides our nation’s heroes with opportunities that may otherwise have been out of reach.
On Saturday, October 13, from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., cooking teams will compete to be named the Big Thicket Hogs & Strings BBQ Champion. The three categories being judged are: best pork ribs, pulled pork and “anything goes” pork category. Cook-off access is free to the public and open to all ages. To enter a BBQ dish, teams are encouraged to visit birdeasepro.com/bigthickethogsstrings. The entry fee is $50 per team and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
As one of the primary pillars of the event, live music will be heard around every corner. Beginning on Friday night through Sunday morning, more than ten musical acts will grace the Hogs & Strings stages including Andrew Duhon, Carson McHone, Adam & Chris Carroll, Cody Schaeffer, Sabine River Band, Bronco Jr., Spencer Marks, Lee Pelly, Thomas Teague and more. All concerts are included in the festival ticket price.
The Weekend Pass includes access into all events, including concerts; primitive campsite access for Friday and Saturday nights; and the Sunday Gospel Brunch for $85.00. A Day-Pass is available for Saturday, October 13, which includes access into the cook-off and all concerts for $10.00.
