Toddler Takeover at Beaumont Children’s Museum BCM staff and volunteers will engage young children ages 0-5 through stories, crafts, science experiments, music and movement.  We believe in learning through playing and strive to improve gross and fine motor skills along with other educational aspects such as the alphabet, number recognition, shapes and colors. The children and their guardians will rotate between 4 different 25 minute rotations. Toddler Takeover check in will start at 8:45 AM each Wednesday morning. Participants will meet at 9AM at the Tot Spot for the group welcome and start their rotations at 9:05 AM. Story time (3 books with song or game in-between) Music & Movement Craft/Art Project based on theme Science Experiment/Technology activity based on that day’s them » ADMISSION $5 per member child $10 per non-member child Includes: Regular admission + Program Cost. Mother Goose Storytime – “Christmas Party!” at Hebert Public Library *Party is for children who have been participating in the Fall Storytime Session. Storytime is for children 1-5 years of age. There is a limit of 35 children at each program. The staff will not be receiving your children for storytime until 9:45 a.m. When entering the library your child will be given a ticket for storytime. Michael Martin Murphey – A Cowboy Christmas at Julie Rogers Theater Murphey has been awareded gold albums for Cowboy Songs Vol. 1, Blue Sky – Night Thunder, and a Platinum single, “Wildfire.” He has been given the prestigious Charlie Russell Award for Western Heritage. He is a 5-time recipient of the Wrangle award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame, and boasts awards from the Academy of Country Music, Rock Music Awards, Academy of Western Music Awards, the Governor of New Mexico’s Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Son of Texas Award by the Texas Legislature, and multiple from BMI. In 2009, he was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association Hall of Fame, joining old friends Willie Nelson, Guy Clark and Allen Shamblin. In 2018, Murphey released Austinology, celebrating his early days as a pioneer of the Austin Music Scene of the 70s with guest artists including Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, and many more. The Art of Found Objects: Enigma Variations Opening Reception Enigma Variations is organized by guest curator and author, Robert Craig Bunch of San Antonio, and is an exhibit of artwork by artists who use found objects. They were included in Bunch’s book, The Art of Found Objects: Interviews with Texas Artists, published by Texas A&M University Press, 2016. This exhibition focuses on artists currently (or formerly) working in Texas that all create art with found materials. Artists Steve Brudniak (Austin), Marilyn Lanfear (San Antonio), Angelica Paez (Houston), Ward Sanders (Lytle) and Kelly Sears (Boulder, Colorado) will be featured as the focus of the exhibition and will each have numerous works in the exhibition. They will be joined by other well-known Texas artists that often explore creating art with found objects, including: Charles A. A. Dellschau, Forrest Bess, Felix “Fox” Harris, Jesse Lott, David McManaway, Maudee Carron, Clyde Connell, Bert Long, Mary McCleary, Dario Robleto, Vernon Fisher, Trenton Doyle Hancock and Jonathan Rosenstein. As guest curator, Bunch has selected each artist, considering the diversity and enigmatic visual history of the found object realm. Christmas Light Parade – Bridge City * UPDATED DATE * *The Parade has been postponed until Saturday, December 15th at 6 pm. Toys donated for entry fees should be brought to the chamber office at 150 W. Roundbunch Rd., Bridge City, TX 77611 before Monday, December 10th. Please call the chamber at 409-735-5671 if you have any questions. The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is once again kicking off the holiday season in Bridge City with its 10th Annual Christmas Light Parade. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the categories of Dance, Vehicle, Float and Ambulatory as well as one trophy for Best Overall. In addition to those awards, Mayor David Rutledge will award a Mayor’s Trophy and $200 to the best “One Starry Night” themed entry. The parade route will begin on West Roundbunch Road starting at the First Baptist and ending at Bridge City Intermediate School. Entry fee for the parade is a donated toy from each participant on the float. The toys collected will go to the Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance for their Christmas Toy Drive which benefits needy children in the Bridge City/Orangefield area. Brittany Pfantz at The Grill Brittany Pfantz is a singer/songwriter native to Louisiana, located in Los Angeles, California. She makes up 1/2 of the electro-soul duo, French Toast who recently made there debut at the ASCAP SHE ROCKS showcase. Brittany’s sound is mainly soul, that stuff you feel way down in your gut. Brittany’s fast growing career began in 2014. “Free Birds”, her first EP, was recorded in Brazil. “I Shall Climb This Mountain” was released in 2017, she describes all of this work as a journey to discovering her sound. Which she has recently really found through producing her own project called “music without makeup”, a stripped down unedited Brittany. Her duo has also really helped her blossom into her sound. Brittany’s career escalated quickly from not knowing she could sing, to singing, to learning instruments, writing her own music, and then recording and performing all within a couple of years. She is certain that music is a large piece of the puzzle filled with what she was created to do.
